If you would like to get started with a tiny home, good for you! It’s an exciting and rewarding experience to own one (or more) of the homes. Below are the steps to take to have a tiny home of your own!
During our first meeting we talk about what you’re looking for in a tiny home and can offer ideas and advice.
Decide on a size and budget
Discuss what you want to pay for a tiny home. The prices vary depending on the size and upgrades. You can expect to pay a minimum of $25,000 and and up to $95,000.
Decide on a shell or complete home
Depending on your budget, we can build a shell which includes the trailer, frame, roof and window/door cut outs all the way up to a fully functioning house. You have the ability to decide if you want to paint it yourself, install the roof, install the flooring, etc.
Pay the down payment or choose to finance with Hearth
If you are paying cash, we ask for 75% down and the balance upon pick up or delivery. We offer payments through various online platforms. Those platforms include Venmo, Paypal, QuickBooks Invoicing, wire transfer, and e-check.
If you are taking the financing route then payment must be made in full before building begins to meet Hearth’s requirements.
Meet at Hometown Hardware
This is where the fun part begins! Hometown Hardware is one of our preferred partners. Here you can pick out everything: paint, roof, siding, cabinets, floors, and everything that goes inside! We use JD Metals for the tiny home’s roofs and Ply Gem siding. The flooring is Pro-Gem and you have over 30 Sherwin-Williams colors to choose from for the siding! We also custom make the cabinets and can discuss the product, colors, and hardware while we are here.
Depending on the model you choose, it generally takes two to six weeks to build a tiny house. It is built on our property located at 17563 Great Smoky Mountains Expressway, Waynesville, NC.
